You know we love a Martini as much as the next 30-something woman, but when we’re making drinks at home we like things a little less fussy. Not a single cocktail shaker to be seen for this list - we’ve even got something blended in there! And look, we’ve also decided that mixing two things together counts as a cocktail, so it’s an easy-breezy summer ahead! Who’s joining?
Cocktail Hour!
Embrace the cheesy, frozen drinks with a Blended Mango Daiquiri with Basil. SoMo drank this on her honeymoon where mangoes grew wild, and generally likes to eyeball the measurements. Throw in a shot of white rum per person, frozen mango cheeks, ice, a few good generous squeezes of lime juice, a sprinkle of sea salt and few sprigs of basil into the blender and blend it like the best of them! That’s literally it.
Mezcal Paloma You can make this with tequila, but we prefer it with mezcal! (Did you expect anything else?) We like this specific one.
SoMo has officially declared Summer 2019-2020 the summer of the Amaro Spritz. No recipe, just a ratio! 3 parts sparkling wine : 2 parts Amaro : 1 part soda water. Pour over ice and stir. Garnish with something interesting. Our man Alex Delaney at Bon Appetit wrote an entire article about upgrading the spritz. Let us know which ones you try!
Start the party with a Carajillo. It’s a shot of Licor 43 (or brandy, or Frangelico) poured over ice, which you top with a shot of espresso and stir to combine. It’s considered the ‘vodka red bull’ of Mexico City.
Yuzushu Highball. Look we don’t really have a recipe for this - it’s two ingredients! Is it even a cocktail? Who cares, it’s delish. Fill a tall glass with ice, pour in a generous shot of yuzushu and top it with soda. Drink up!

“After long shifts I just put gin and rosewater over ice with an (optional) squeeze of lime.”
“Does a rum and coke with fresh lime count? Because there’s actually nothing more satisfying.” (It counts in our books!)

“Gimlets! 1:1 gin and Rose’s lime, squeeze in some lime juice to make it fancy.”
“Gin Gin Mules: mint, ginger beer and gin!”
“Fresh lime and Grand Marnier marg on the rocks. So easy and fresh and satisfying.”
“Winter - old fashioned. Summer - Pink Vermouth Spritz.”
